PRESS STATEMENT
PRESS STATEMENT by YB R SIVRASA, Ahli Parlimen, SUBANG.
I am indeed very happy with the decision of YB Elizabeth Wong to withdraw her resignation and to return to serve the people of Bukit Lanjan specifically as ADUN and also the rakyat of Selangor in general as Exco for Tourism, Environment and Consumer Affairs.
I as the MP of Subang am in full support of YB Elizabeth’s stand that: “Gutter politics is not and should not be part of our political culture..”
I assure all our Subang Parliament Constituents (which includes the Bukit Lanjan DUN seat) that we stand together for ‘New Politics’ – a politics that encourages intellectual discourse, reasoned polemics and ideological debates, not one which resorts to gutter-level politicking which seek to smear, to slander and to violate one’s privacy to score political points.
Meanwhile, I welcome Eli back to continue our duty to serve the people of Bukit Lanjan DUN and the Subang Parliament area.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the voters of Bukit Lanjan DUN for their continuous support.
I must also congratulate YB Elizabeth’s Team for their dedication and for continuing to serve the rakyat throughout the past two months.
Thank you

SAMY - Make it Right!
MACC gets papers on Samy’s alleged land scam (Updated)

(Bernama) SHAH ALAM, 26 March 2009: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has received documents pertaining to the MIC president's alleged misappropriation of land belonging to a Tamil primary school in Bandar Utama.
The documents were handed over to the MACC's Selangor headquarters here today by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Concern Youth Movement (CYM), a non-governmental organisation.
PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah said the case involved Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu's alleged misappropriation of three acres (1.2 hectare) of prime land originally alienated for the Effingham Tamil School.
He said the land was designated for public use and should not be sold or transferred to any individual or political party. Hence, it was not suitable for the MIC to acquire it.
"We want Samy Vellu to do the right thing by returning the balance three acres of land that was originally alienated for the Effingham Tamil School, to the people.
"It was good of him to acknowledge that it was an administrative error that had resulted in his name being listed as the beneficial owner of half of the land in Jalan Bandar Utama 1/1.
"...but, it has been almost six months since he apologised and we now want him to rectify the mistake and put things right," added Sivarasa, who is also Subang member of parliament.
The documents were handed over to Selangor MACC director Moh Samsudin Yusof to facilitate investigations into the alleged misappropriation.
Recently, the MIC and Samy Vellu came under fire as the party president was named the beneficiary owner of half of the land in BU11/1, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, originally meant for SRJK (T) Effingham.
However, MIC secretary-general Datuk Dr S Subramaniam had clarified that the land was owned by the party and there was an error in the description of the proprietor in the land title.
He was reported as having said that the error was brought to the attention of the Selangor Land and Mines director and that the MIC was taking steps to rectify it through its lawyers.

SIVARAS IN SUPPORT
Objection signatures and memo submitted to MBPJ
By TAN KARR WEI
RESIDENTS of Bandar Sri Damansara are firm on their stand to oppose any development on Meranti Hill along Persiaran Meranti.
About 200 residents staged a peaceful protest at the parking area of the Paradesa Rustica condominiums last Sunday, under the scorching afternoon sun.
“We saw what happened at Bukit Antarabangsa (referring to the Dec 6 landslide which killed five people) and we don’t want the same thing to happen here,” Paradesa Tropica joint management committee adviser Andrew Tan said.
During a public hearing at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) headquarters last week, the residents found out that in addition to the 12 highrise blocks of 35 to 36 storeys, similar to those in the previous proposal, the developer had included a 0.79ha commercial lot in the plans.
“We are stressing again that Persiaran Meranti is a narrow road that can’t cope with the additional 7,000 cars projected from the development,” Tan said.
He said there was already soil erosion at several places around the hill and the Rustica condominium car park would be flooded whenever it rained heavily.
According to Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah, under the Petaling Jaya Local Draft Plan 2 (RTPJ2), many development projects are being proposed for PJ.
“There are attempts to turn PJ into a city like KL but we don’t have the necessary road infrastructure and transport facilities to support the heavy traffic,” he said.
The residents also handed over a memorandum together with about 1,500 objection signatures to MBPJ councillor Chan Chee Kong, highlighting their concerns over the project.
Chan said that this was the third proposal that the MBPJ had received for the development and the council would look into the application after hearing the objections.
When contacted, a spokesman for the developer said they had followed all procedures and were only building on class 1 and 2 slopes.
“We will make sure that all the safety and engineering practices are carried out and had also given an undertaking during one of the objection hearings to compensate residents if anything happens during construction,” he said.
He added that the developer had heard residents’ grouses regarding density and had reduced the number of blocks from the initial 15 to 12.
